Clear answers about self-custody, recovery phrases, network selection, transfers, device changes and safe installation to help you avoid common wallet mistakes.
Self-custody puts responsibility for credentials with the wallet owner. Verify how your chosen product actually handles keys and keep backups safe.
A network connection may be needed to retrieve balances or broadcast transactions. Offline backup is a separate security practice.
Write it down privately and keep it offline. Never upload it or type it into an unverified website.
A private key may authorize actions for an account, while a recovery phrase can restore a set of derived keys. Both are sensitive.
Check your offline backup first, install from a verified source and follow the application recovery workflow in private.
Verify the blockchain network and token contract details. The token name alone does not identify the correct network.
Check the exact recipient address, network, amount, fees and any approval permissions.
Verify the domain and software origin. Avoid files sent in unsolicited messages or applications requesting unexpected permissions.
Treat requests for recovery phrases, urgent transfers or unusual approvals as warning signs. Verify the source independently.
